Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is a professional organizer?
Professional organizers help people take control of their space, their time, and their stuff by creating systems that make managing each of these areas simple. Kelly sees her role as part coach, part motivator, part educator. Transferring skill is a very large part of what a professional organizer does.

What does transferring skill mean?
It means at the end of your time together you should understand how the organization process works, and you should be able to replicate it.

How does that happen?
Working with an organizer should be a collaborative effort. Client participation is key. A critical piece is finding out how the client processes information. Once that is understood, transferring skill can freely take place. Kelly takes into account the client's preferred learning style when she chooses education and coaching methods, this makes sure her communications are crystal clear.

How will this be different?
It is more than likely that the system was a wrong fit for your personality and/or lifestyle. Everyone is different, and Kelly will work to create a system that works well for you. She can also provide support until the new system is firmly in place. However, the biggest factor is being ready to commit to new habits. If you are unwilling to put forth effort, you will never get anything to 'stick'.

I used to very organized but now I am not.
Can I be helped?
Absolutely. Most likely your life has changed in some way and you are trying to use a system that is no longer fits your needs. Kelly can help you get back on track.

I feel like I should be able to do this myself.
Why would I need help from a professional?
There are many scenarios where hiring a professional is the right thing to do. Perhaps you have no idea where or how to start and need guidance. A professional can coach you through the process. Once you have an understanding of how it works, you can replicate it. Another situation might be that you procrastinate putting new systems in place and need someone to coach and motivate you. When you want to speed the process along calling for help is the best thing to do. Sometimes you just need a fresh perspective to find the right solution. In all cases calling a professional can help you save time, money, and aggravation.

TimeMoney.jpgHow long will it take?
That all depends on the size and the scope of the project. There are many variables and each situation is unique. With that said, once the project has been defined, a timetable for completion will be determined so you will know what to expect.

I don't have enough time to do what I need to do now.
How will I ever find time to get organized?
Disorganization does not support efficiency and productivity. Contact Kelly and ask how one hour invested in getting a simple system in place can save an hour or more everyday.

How much will it cost?
Kelly works with each client individually. After the initial consultation she will present the client with a proposal that will address cost and payment options, as well as outlining the outcome and time line. Organizing plans can be customized for all budget levels, don't allow cost to be the concern that stops you from getting organized. If you are motivated to create change Kelly can work with to make it happen and do it within your budget.

How will my personal information be protected?
You can be assured that any and all personal information will be treated as confidential. Kelly abides by the NAPO Code of Ethics. She guarantees that she will never share any detail, of any client relationship, without written permission.

Why don't I see before and after pictures?
For a couple of reasons. First of all, pictures, no matter how dramatic, show only a moment in time. The change that is created is not about making things look beautiful (although that is often an added bonus), it's about creating systems that support the client's vision and lifestyle. Kelly does occasionally take photos but those are used with the client only. Second, because confidentiality is guaranteed, sharing client photos would be in direct conflict with that promise.

Is there any kind of guarantee that this will work for me?
Yes, there is a satisfaction guarantee. Because the organizing process is very much client driven, Kelly only works with clients that are truly ready to create change. Expectations and outcomes are clearly defined and agreed upon before work starts so measuring satisfaction is quite easy.
